Dreamland Bedding is a New Zealand owned sleep brand that designs its mattresses in New Zealand and brings together a coordinated range of beds, headboards, bedroom furniture, and pillows made to fit New Zealand homes.
We believe a good night’s sleep should not depend on how much you can spend. That one idea sits behind everything we make, and it is the reason Dreamland exists.
Dreamland began quietly in 2012, trading a single, simple bed and base set, before we had a name of our own. For the first year or so we tested how best to serve New Zealand sleepers, learning what people actually wanted rather than assuming we already knew.
In 2013 we created the Dreamland brand, and our beds have carried the name ever since. From that point we set ourselves one job: make genuinely good beds that more New Zealanders could afford, and do it without cutting the corners that matter.
For more than a decade after that, we were happy to stay in the background. If you have bought a bed from a New Zealand retailer in the last ten years, there is a fair chance you have already slept well on a Dreamland, with the store you trust front of house and Dreamland quietly behind it.
A lot of the bedding industry was built on a simple idea: that a good mattress has to be expensive, and a cheap one has to be poor. We never accepted that.
So we built Dreamland the other way around. We keep the business lean and the layers of cost between our factory partners and your bedroom as few as possible, and we choose not to pass cost you would not notice on the bed straight onto the price tag. The result is what we call affordable luxury: a bed that feels and performs like a premium one, at a price that makes sense for a first home, a growing family, or a room you simply want to get right.
We think about sleep the way an athlete thinks about recovery. Your body does its repair work overnight, and better sleep gives you more energy, a clearer head, and a better day. That belief has a name with us, Sleep x Performance, and it shapes how we design every bed: for real rest, not just a soft first impression.
We design our mattresses here in New Zealand, for New Zealand sleepers. The comfort level, the support, the materials, and the specification are all decided by our team, not chosen from whatever a supplier happens to have on the shelf.
We take that as far as the fabric. Rather than picking a covering from a stock catalogue, our team travels to choose the fabrics and the colours ourselves, because what suits another market is not always what suits a New Zealand home or the way New Zealanders like a bed to feel and look. Nothing on our mattress range is off the shelf.
The rest of the bedroom, the bed frames and bases, headboards, kids beds and bunks, bedroom furniture, and pillows, is made with manufacturing partners we have worked alongside for years, and chosen and finished by us to suit New Zealand homes. We are careful to say it that way, because it is honest, and honesty is the least you should expect from the brand that puts its name on the bed.
Most people are not furnishing a bedroom one piece at a time. They want a room that looks like someone thought about it.
So we build our range to coordinate. One base family, one headboard palette, one story, so a bed, a base, a headboard, and the furniture around them can share a colour and a feel rather than clash. From the Pegasus flagship at the top of the range, to the long running Lincoln and Liverpool that have carried New Zealand bedrooms for over ten years, to the firm and value focused Titan, each bed is built to belong in a coordinated room rather than stand alone. It means fewer decisions for you, and a bedroom that feels finished.
For most of our story, you would have met Dreamland in a showroom, not online. We relied on the retailers who stock us to introduce the brand, and we kept only a small presence of our own.
That made sense for a long time. It makes less sense now. New Zealanders research a bed on a phone long before they lie down on one, and a brand that cannot be found online is a brand that quietly disappears from the conversation. So we decided to step forward. We rebuilt our website and brand and brought Dreamland properly online, with our full range, a Store Finder, and the stockists for each product all in one place.
The idea is simple. Get to know Dreamland here, then go and experience it in person. We have come into the light so that the choice is yours to make with your eyes open.
Some of the work we are proudest of never shows up on a product page.
Dreamland has supported the Starship Foundation since 2019, including pledging a share of our November sales each year, and our customers have lifted that donation higher every time. We are listed among the Starship Foundation’s Corporate Supporters in its 2024 and 2025 impact reports, alongside companies many New Zealanders will recognise.
We support children’s health for the same reason we do everything else: because the idea behind it is the same idea behind every bed we make. Everyone deserves a good night’s sleep and a healthy start.
We do not sell directly from this website. You will find Dreamland at trusted bedding and furniture retailers across both the North and South Islands, where you can see the range, feel the difference, and get advice from people who know it well.
Use our Store Finder to find your nearest stockist, then go and lie down on the bed you have been reading about. That is still the best way to choose one.
If you run a bedding or furniture business and you are looking at brands to range, we would love to talk. You can read how we work with our retail partners, and apply, on our Become a Stockist page.
